Playing now

Friends on a course right now, on the hole they’re playing. Only if you both share.

Open to play

Say you’re free for an hour or tonight. Friends see it, and asking takes one tap.

Why Blackbird

Disc golf is a group sport. Its apps were built for scorecards.

Almost everyone who plays was brought by someone, and most rounds are played together. Getting the group out is still a text that nobody answers. Blackbird starts there.

Live

Who’s out there, right now.

Open the map and see faces on the courses near you, the hole they’re on and how their round is going. When a friend tees off, a card slides in.

  • Off until you turn it on. Sharing is mutual: you see friends while they can see you.
  • A course and a hole, never your exact spot.
  • Real courses on satellite imagery, with each hole drawn on top.
The live map with friends on Peninsula, Altmaier, Turkey Creek and Sugar Bottom, and Wes, Sam and Dani open to play.
Friends · Open to play

Find a card for tonight.

Set yourself open to play for an hour, three hours or tonight, at your home course or anywhere nearby. Friends who are free show up in gold. One tap asks; their answer comes back in the app.

  • Friend requests, who’s playing, and who’s open, on one page.
  • Your home course puts its regulars first.
  • Scorecards for the whole group, with everyone’s round in their feed after.
The Friends tab: two friend requests to accept, and Aria, Nora and Tasha open to play with an Ask button each.
A round summary at Peninsula Park: two under par in 58 throws, with the walked line over the course and the card's results.
Practice · Your bag

Practice that shows up on the scorecard.

Putting practice built around how practice actually transfers: ladders that move you back, pressure games, a 10-putt test to beat, and a range of make rates by distance. No running percentage while you putt; the numbers wait for the end.

  • Your circle 1 make rate over 30 days, beside the 30 before.
  • Two big keys, made and missed, for one thumb on the grass.
  • Flight charts for every disc in your bag, drawn for your hand, your style and your arm.
Putting practice: rings for each distance weighted by make rate, 66 percent in circle 1, and the four practice formats.
A Teebird's flight chart for a right-hand backhand with a 340-foot arm, finishing at 310 feet.
Tournaments

Your next tournament, and who’s going.

Leagues, locals and PDGA events within driving distance or anywhere in the country, with their divisions, fees and spots left, and the friends already registered. Ask to be told when registration opens, so a popular event doesn’t fill without you.

For league and tournament directors

Post a league night or an event in a few minutes, and every player near it sees it on Home. Then run it from your phone: sign-ups, who’s paid and how (cash, Venmo, PayPal or card), check-in, the ace pot and closest to the pin, payouts, and a spreadsheet at the end. No money moves through Blackbird. A first event from a new director gets a quick check before it’s listed.

Light and dark

Charcoal at dusk. Paper in full sun.

Blackbird follows your phone, or you pick. In bright sun on an open fairway, the light theme stays readable; at dusk it goes dark and easy on the eyes.

      FAQ

      Questions

      Is Blackbird free?

Yes. Scoring and every round you’ve ever played, your stats and rating, the live map, friends, open to play, tournaments and putting practice are free. Blackbird+ adds deeper insight into your game for players who want more: $24.99 a year with 14 days free, or $3.99 a month. Founding members pay $19.99 a year for as long as they stay.

Can I bring my rounds from another app?

Yes. Export your scorecards as a CSV from the app you use now, then in Blackbird choose You → Bring your rounds. Your own scores come in at the courses Blackbird has, with the pars you played to, so your history starts full on day one.

My friends don’t have Blackbird. Can I still keep their score?

Yes. Add anyone to your card by name and keep their score like always. After the round, send them their card: a link that shows their scores in any browser, and saves the round to their own history if they get Blackbird.

Who can see where I am?

Nobody, until you turn live sharing on. Then friends, or everyone if you choose, see the course and hole you’re on while you play. Never your exact location, and you see them only while you share too.

      Which courses does it have?

Blackbird uses real courses on satellite imagery. Hole layouts are mapped course by course: open map data where it exists, players marking tees and baskets with their phones, and checks by local clubs.

I run a league or tournaments. How does it work?

From Tournaments, choose Post an event: the course, dates, divisions, fees and caps. Leagues and local events take sign-ups right in Blackbird. Players keep paying you the way they do now, and Blackbird keeps the record: who’s paid and how, who’s checked in, the ace pot and closest to the pin, payouts, and a spreadsheet for the club’s books. PDGA events can point players to your Disc Golf Scene page instead. Your first event gets a quick check before it’s listed.

      When can I use it?

The beta opens in spring 2027, starting with leagues around Iowa City and Cedar Rapids, then one town at a time. Join the list and we’ll tell you when it reaches yours. If you run a league, tick the box and we’ll talk first.

      See you on the course.

One email when the beta opens. That’s it.
